FAQ's

What are your cancellation and refund policies?

I understand that life can get in the way sometimes.

To accommodate this, all cancellations or reschedules before 24 hours notice are free of charge. Within 24 hours, I ask for a $30 reschedule fee.

After your first cancellation or reschedule, all fees and payment plans must be paid before reschedules will be made.

No refunds are offered on prepaid training packages unless in the case of severe unexpected illness of human or dog, or death of the dog.

In the case the dog is re-homed during the training package, the remaining training will be offered to the new owner of the dog or can be applied to your new dog in the future.

Initial consults have a $90 non-refundable deposit.

Are there any behavioral problems you do not work with?

Although I have experience with severe aggression, at this time I am not accepting clients whose dog has a bite history or is a high bite risk.

After an initial consult or during any program, I may choose to refer a case out to either a veterinary behaviorist or a trainer who specializes in your specific issues.

If I make this decision, I will refund in full any unused portion of your program.

Do you use e-collars or other correctional tools?

Yes, for some dogs and some programs. Our belief is that dog training is not about the tools, but about the skills you gain as an owner. We will discuss your training tool options with you and will create a training plan that implements tools you're comfortable using.

Most behaviors can be addressed with positive reinforcement only; however, appropriate use of correction with many behavioral problems can speed up your dog's understanding of the behavior and reduce what could have been a 18 month training process to less than 8 months.

Adding light and fair pressure to a dog helps them learn how to cope with stress (the main cause of negative behavior), become more resilient, and help them understand that the least stressful action in a situation they dislike is to listen to you.

Use of the ecollar at levels that are annoying but not painful, and at barely detectable levels, is akin to therapy tools in humans- putting a bit of pressure on the dog to learn to cope better with daily life.
